Our laboratory focuses on fundamental and applied studies of mechatronics technologies for advanced human assistive systems. The human assistive technologies are developing with growth of device fabrication technologies and robotic control technologies as well as understandings of human sensory motor system including motion learning and adaptation systems. The Micro/Nano device technologies are ones of our interests since they strongly helps us developing sophisticated human interface devices to improve compatibility from viewpoints of information and physical interaction. We evaluate and analyze performance improvement of functional movements from viewpoint of human body kinetics and kinematics that include physiological, neurophysiological, biomechanical, and psychological systems, when a human receives some interventions from an assistive system that may enhance physical capability of healthy people or ameliorate functional limitation or disability of physically challenged persons. Through these studies, we also cultivate students with a high degree of interdisciplinary knowledge, called Bio-Robotics, related to mechatronics, Micro/Nano device technologies, informatics and human science.
