Batch Fabrication of Shape- Controlled Microstructures for 3D Cell Assembly

About

2D Ca-alginate cell-laden gel membranes were electrodeposited onto micro-patterned electrode and further detached from the electrode to achieve miniaturized 3D microcapsules in which cells formed multi-cellular aggregate after cultivation for two weeks. The main advantages of our approach including: 1) Gear-like tissue fabrication with predefined shape 2) High cell density while maintaining the viability 3) Movable structures that can be transported and manipulated.
